TB CAP has been supporting Afghanistan since 2008 .

The activities implemented by TB CAP will build the capacity and strengthen the systems of the NTP Central Unit as well as the capacity at regional and provincial levels. These activities will improve political commitment, management capacities, case detection, diagnosis and treatment, and management of TB patients; strengthen coordination and collaboration among various players; and strengthen and improve capacity to conduct monitoring, supervision, TB IC activities, PPM activities, and human resource development policy.

The overall objective of TB CAP project is to improve the management and technical capacity of the NTP and to strengthen the management and technical systems for the delivery of quality DOTS in Afghanistan.

MSH will be the lead partner for TB CAP Afghanistan project while WHO and KNCV will be the collaborating partners. Based on the agreed work plan additional local sub-contracts will be made with BRAC, HSSP and others.

  • Sustained appropriate level of government funding and ensured political and legal framework
  • Strengthened TB program leadership and management
  • Strengthened integration of DOTS services in general health services
  • Improved diagnostic capacity
  • Improved equitable access to quality care of vulnerable population
  • Scaled up TB infection control measures at country level
  • Increased NTP coordination and collaboration with public and private sectors
  • Improved competence of staff at different levels of the health system
